Two things we came to realize yesterday:
-You cannot find waterfalls in Texas during the summer. They don't exist.
-We are getting entirely way too law abiding in our old age.
I have quite a few pictures of both.

With the purpose of founding a monastery and a German Catholic Colony, Carmelite Monks, in 1881, began the first Catholic Church between Fort Worth and El Paso. The adobe and brick monastery was completed in 1884, and St. Joseph's Church in 1885.
Sisters of Divine Providence opened a short-lived school in 1887. It was reopened in 1894 by the Sisters of Mercy. In 1897, the Carmelite Monks disbanded and sold the property to the Sisters of Mercy. They operated a convent and academy until abandonment in 1938 (due to a tornado on June 11, 1938). All that remains are the dormitory, ruins of the other buildings and the cemetery.

When a place that is abandoned does not have a no trespassing sign posted, what do you do? (I would imagine even if it didn't have no trespassing signs up, it would still be trespassing.)
A) Crawl through the window (the place is safe, I wouldn't be falling through floors and ceilings won't fall on top of me.)
B) Do some hardcore research (tax accessors might know) to find out who is the owner.
C) Give up. Either option won't work out right.
I want in this building. I have read in a few "haunted stories" that this is an insane asylum but I cannot find ANYTHING about Odessa ever having an insane asylum.

It is amazing what cakes, cupcakes, muffins and cookies taste like when they are made from scratch.
I have never liked Devil's Food until these...oh.my.lord. They are amazing. On the ones with frosting, you cannot tell where the frosting stops and the cupcake starts! They are so soft & so moist.

Alright. So, it was good...but I definitely think you *have* to like lime flavors to enjoy it. You can feel in the back of your throat the lime and it definitely has a strong after taste of lime, but it was okay all around.
Like I said, I think this cheesecake is only for the ones who like lime flavors.

(Okay, let me ramble a lot for a second: The "back drop" is my wrinkled table cloth (I usually iron them before putting them on the table, but I hadn't gotten to that part of my day yet.) I was fooling around in the kitchen this morning making Key Lime Cheesecake, Banana Nut Bread and Lemon Tea when I threw my table cloth onto the stove (see icon, 1948 O'Keefe & Merritt Gas Stove) so I could have something softer than the bright ass white enamel of the stove. I think these would work great in a light box, maybe it will get rid of the shadows. I'm not really happy with them because of the table cloth...that one specific part where it has a huge wrinkle is very distracting. But - I was just experimenting & I learned a lesson!)
